Bureaucrats run the country. If you want license plates, property, a driver’s license, Social Security payments, mail a package, get alterations to your home, etc, etc. you have to crawl on your knees to beg for approval from a jerk who relishes making your life a living hell. “Land of the Free” indeed 😉
I have had to deal with inspectors in my city since the late 80s for my house and for an empty lot across the street that we own. The problem with any one in government is that they want to play God. Time and again I’ve told them that I pay their salary and they work for me. I can only kiss their ass so far
