I was a deputy for over nine years. If two of our deputies had done this they’d be fired and I’d be recommending criminal charges against both of them, pushing hard for prison time. This is not even remotely okay.
There was no reasonable explanation for what those two deputies did. Even poor training doesn’t excuse blind fear and blind fear has no place in law enforcement.
