I'm almost 58 and I remember myself and older brother returning bottles for cash. Those were such fun times, and I'm serious! A simple life when I was a kid.
Twenty years ago I was told by a landfill worker that they don't actually recycle because its too expensive. So I asked: Then why do they tell us to do it? He said: Our local leaders told their agency that this gives everyone time to learn what do & form the habit of recycling. So that when the cost of recycling comes down, everyone will already know how to do it………..but he said it won't happen in our lifetime.
They just make the law, they never see if it really works
Remember when we used paper bags, they will after time be gone but Plastic bags are still here forever
You’re right. Paper is the most recyclable thing on earth. It just goes to water and pulp after a short time.
Okay so you don’t recycle any longer, BUT they still charge you a 10 cent California recycling fee on every bottle! so who is stealing that money???
In my day, everyone had a knitted “shopping” bag – no paper bags nor plastic bags. We returned our soda and milk bottles for cash.
