It’s not just Toyota. It’s Hyundai also. There’s so many recalls. We have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson and the car was not even paid off in the motor blew up. Six people where my son works have the same exact vehicle same 1.6 L motor all those blew up too. They won’t re-column and all over the Internet It’s not just Toyota. It’s Hyundai also. It says the motors are catching fire or they could catch fire. They won’t recall the cars. I bitched them out because we still owed $13,500 on this car and the motor blew last fall just after my son spent $4000 to get the heater and some dual clutch fixed plus $2000 on brand new tires and the next day the motor blew. These factories are pushing bad parts through without a lot of quality control. I have children that work at a factory that does car parts and they are told to push all the bad parts through. It doesn’t matter if they’re good or bad they are looking for numbers. That’s disgraceful.

I worked at Ford Engine plant #1 in Brookpark, Ohio. The ac tech tagged improper rings. The supervisor said the rings were good, swapped him with another qc tech. We ran 2800 5.0l, 302ci engine.I worked on final dressup line after the engines were hot tested. All the engines had scored cylinder bores. Did we repair them at $1,000 a piece, no. Those engines went out the door to be installed in cars that were sold to rent a car companies. You buy a car with 10,000 miles on the odometer and you had to put in 3 quarts of oil when you filled your tank up. Quality was not job #1.
50 years ago I was told that the union had an agreement that they could let a certain amount of “lemon” cars go out the door.
