With the general loathing for Trump – to the extent that folks simply ignored how successful his policies were for the folks of America – especially we in the middle class, his support and protection of religious freedom, his economy even on the rebound after the Covid debacle, on and on, I think of the story of Mary Magdalene and I wonder if perhaps that is how Christ sees Trump. And again a more recent story of the man in the sea, his boat capsized, he cannot get back in and prays and prays for God to save him. A man comes by in his boat and makes haste to help, and the sinking man says no, no God will save me. Another ship comes by and prepares to rescue the man – and he says no, no God will save me. Then he is drowning and he will die – he cries out to God, I prayed for you to save me, why did you not? God said I sent help twice and you turned it down. Is this what we have allowed the Swamp folks to convince us of with Trump??? Christians believe in redemption and he did not involve himself in any of the personal peccadillos that had been his failing before he was in the White House.
