Indefinite Closure of L.A. Freeway Due to Colossal Fire Linked to Homeless Shelter Damage.

The continuous struggle against homelessness in Los Angeles has once again revealed its ugly face as a massive fire resulting from a makeshift shelter near the freeway caused the indefinite closure of a vital roadway, compromising the structure’s integrity. This incident underscores the urgency for policymakers to address the city’s growing homeless crisis and explore sustainable solutions that prioritize the safety of both the homeless population and the general public.

I worked in a state psych center in NY in the 90s before they closed them. Most of my patients ended up homeless. At least when they were in the psych center, they had heat, showers, a bed, 3 meals and activities. What the aclu did to the psych centers in the 90s is criminal.

I was homeless on the streets of Los Angeles and I had a job. I left LA, got on my feet, got a good job and am now retired. I’m not as nice as you Matt, I’m old fashioned, I use the term “bums”. I can tell you the majority of folks on the street want to be there and the system wants to enable them. I’m a veteran who went through a tough time, but worked to get out of it. Most can do the same.
