He is full of crap as to the charging fees for electric cars. I’ve had electric cars since 2015 and just went on a 1200 mile road trip and the most expensive fill up for my Tesla was $32, much much cheaper than the $85 it takes to fill up my Acura. Also, where I live a lot of chargers are free for you to charge while you’re in a shopping center or an airport for instance. In Sacramento and San Francisco the airports offer free charging, and that is common at other places as well. Furthermore, most people that drive electric cars do indeed charge them at home, which is significantly cheaper than buying gas at a gas station. I have two electric cars and two gas powered cars, so I definitely know the difference. Electric cars are way way better in my opinion, for a number of reasons, and the maintenance on them is almost nonexistent. Super reliable as well.
Having driven three Teslas for close to 10 years to this day, I have not once gone to a Tesla charging station and had more than a few inoperative chargers, so that is not a widespread problem that you are reporting. And, that is very rare. Most of the time, like 95% or greater, every single charger is working.
I was under the impression than long trips were impossible in an electric car due to the lack of available charging stations. I bought a hybrid to avoid that issue. I’ve read there’s a problem with charging stations being vandalized for their precious metals. I’m just curious what your experience has been.
