I concurr with Tulsi, as a resident of Hawaii (Oahu) the sirens were NEVER just for tsunami’s. Everyone on the island knows that! WE have NEVER had drills or were trained at all to run to the hills whenever we had a siren go off. The general understanding was that the sirens go off to warn about impending danger of any kind and you have to get the details via radio or your smartphone alert. To hear this guy straight out LIE on camera that the people of Hawaii would run to the hills and into the fire was cringe at best, it irritated a lot of us who know that’s not true and he was just trying to come up with the best (but not so intelligent) way to cover his butt. Please don’t feel sorry for him! What he said was a blatant lie and the people of Hawaii saw right through it!
The government utterly failed the good people of Maui. This was a man made event that was completely avoidable. The state government needs to be held accountable. This was criminal negligence.
We see Muslim immigrants being shipped into the USA and housed in hotel rooms with all the amenities. Why can’t we do the same when disaster strikes our own countrymen?
