I lived in Illinois for 6.5 years. Pritzker just became Governor when we moved there. My wife and I watched the state devolve into nothing more than a crap whole in that time frame. It is the single worst place to live in the U.S. Doesn’t have the beaches or mountains like Cali, but the same idiotic tax and economic policy. The schools are atrocious. The roads suck. And gas is outrageous. We left our awesome community because it became hard to live there.
Whenever a politician says ‘I am not focused on “x”, instead I am paying attention to solving bigger issues such as “y” or “z”, you know that they are terrified about speaking out against “x” or they actually support “x” but don’t want to alienate the middle by admitting it, or some combination of both.
