As a frequent flyer, I have been forced to sit next to “large” people. I paid for my seat only to have a “large” person flip up the arm rest so they can take up part of my paid seat. It is wrong. I paid for my seat and deserve to have my entire seat to myself. I refuse to share my seat with anyone. Pay for two seats so other paying customers can have their seats to themselves.

How can you travel with dignity if you don’t treat yourself with dignity?

  1. Love you but a little disappointed. Some eat their way into obesity. Some suffer from metabolic disease. I am a skinny girl with wide but skinny hips. Airline seats are tight, esp. for women. My sister has a metabolic disorder. I eat 20x more that she on a daily basis. She has to be real careful to get critical nutrients while avoiding starches and sugars. Great lipid profile. Terrible brittle diabetes from chemo. When she travels by plane she wraps her arms around her or over her head so that she won’t crowd her neighbor. It is just a dab cruel and self righteous of you to tell her it is a moral failure. You are a godly man and I know that you can understand this. Still love you brother, but this is a come to Jesus moment for you. ✝️

  2. As usual the comments are designed to guilt trip you for stating the obvious. And should you be Christian require you to condone and support their life choices. Why is it everyone else’s responsibility to feel sorry for your life choices. Take responsibility and if you’re large pay for two seats or reduce your payload.

  3. I agree that if you pay for a seat, it is yours by right, no question about it. I don’t believe airlines are obligated to give discounted extra seats. I dislike, intensely, the sentiment that people deserve anything (but the wrath of God.) I just felt real bad for people like my sis who are told it is a moral failure. For most, maybe. For some that cuts pretty deep. Like blaming someone for a brain tumor, autism or a disability. And Mr. Walsh…though it will make no difference to you, I still like you!

  4. Tall people should be complaining about the seating. I’m 6 foot tall and it’s cramped. I can’t imagine someone 8 inches taller, being comfortable. They don’t have a choice, to be shorter.
